I’ve never had flawless skin but I’ve definitely noticed significant changes in my complexion in the past few years. In college, I partied all night and barely washed my face before bed, yet still managed to wake up fresh-faced and ready to face the world. Two kids and one husband later, my skin doesn’t bounce back the way it used to. So, when I heard about mochi skin–the latest J-beauty skincare trend on Instagram–I was intrigued. According to the experts, mochi skin is essentially Japan’s answer to Korea’s glass skin.
If you’re familiar with mochi, a sweet Japanese dessert, you already know how aesthetically pleasing the plump-looking spheres are. That same bouncy appearance is exactly what most of us want for our skin: It’s no wonder that #mochiskin is already amassing thousands of hashtags on Instagram.

So, when I was recently offered the chance to try RE:ERTH’s new skincare line, I jumped at the opportunity. RE:ERTH sent me products to try for free; dubbed mochi skin-in-a-bottle, these luxurious products use two types of Japanese turmeric to regenerate, calm and hydrate aging skin.
To be honest, I’ve always been a wash-and-go kind of girl. My skincare regimen usually consists of washing my face with an inexpensive drugstore cleanser, putting on some facial moisturizer with sunscreen, and heading out the front door. So the idea of trading my no-frills routine for a “real” skincare regimen seemed pretty daunting at first. However, thanks to the rave reviews all over social media about firm, supple, dewy skin, I could barely wait to give mochi skincare a try!

Day 1:
There are a lot of products in RE:ERTH’s line. I mean a lot of products! To be honest, I can barely figure out what to use first. Although part of me hopes my skin will magically transform before my eyes, my practical side knows it will take a while before I see a real difference. Luckily, I do feel a small change on the first day even if I don’t see one right away. My skin feels a little softer after testing out the Clarifying Cleanser, Calming Toner, Hydrating Gel Moisturizer, and Smoothing Eye Cream.
Day 5:
I’m still not seeing any major changes yet, but I also haven’t had any new breakouts, despite the fact that I’ve been under a lot of stress recently. Maybe it’s the products? I started incorporating the PhytoBright supplements a couple of days ago, which promise to “brighten, even skin tone, increase skin’s resistance, and promote overall radiance from within.” I’m not a big fan of vitamins, but since I occasionally slip up and fail to wash my face at night, I’m hoping they will help offset my forgetfulness. I guess only time will tell.

Day 10:
Wow, what a difference ten days makes! I am literally shocked by the results I’ve seen so far. My skin no longer just feels better, it actually looks better, too. Full disclosure: I didn’t really believe anything could work this quickly, but my complexion already seems a little brighter and dewier than it did before. Maybe it’s just my imagination but, even if nothing else changes, I’ll still be happy with the outcome.
Day 14:
It’s official. I’m sold. These mochi skin products are a total game-changer. I’ve never been a big fan of long, complicated beauty routines. After all, juggling work with two kids is hard enough. The last thing I need is to spend more time getting ready in the morning. But the results I’ve gotten from RE:ERTH have made me a convert. My entire complexion has evened out, my skin looks brighter and the fine lines around my eyes are finally starting to disappear. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’ve found the Fountain of Youth, but I definitely won’t be going back to my wash-and-go routine anytime soon!
