Classic and chic, clean and timeless. The quintessential features of the quiet luxury trend aren’t just descriptors for clothing, but for the “old money” style in general. When you lean into the quiet opulence of this aesthetic, you’re opting for classic styles with subtle, elevating details. They stand out, but don’t shout for attention; instead, they command it silently. Your eyes are drawn to the style, but you’re not entirely sure why– until you look more deeply and appreciate the small details.

That’s what this sleek bun can do for your hair. Old money hair is elegant and sophisticated, and you’ll love how the wrapped strands of this bun hairstyle make your glossy locks stand out. Inspired by Sofia Richie’s wedding hairstyle, this look is perfect for your own nuptials, bridesmaid hair, homecoming, prom, or any other formal occasion. So scroll on to see how to get this standout look for yourself!
Old Money Bun
Supplies:
- Bristle brush
- Rat tail comb
- Styling cream (use your favorite)
- Hairspray
- Hair elastic
- Claw clip
- Statement hair accessory
Instructions:
- Begin by parting a triangular section around your part and using a claw clip to clip it away.
- Take the styling cream of your choice and run it through the rest of your hair, paying extra attention to the hairline.
- Brush in the styling cream and shape the smoothest ponytail you can. Secure the ponytail in the middle of the back of your head, then take a bristle brush and smooth out the hairline.
- Let out the triangular section of hair.
- Create a defined part with a rat tail comb.
- Add more styling cream and begin brushing hair in a backward direction
- Once this is done, add the hair to the ponytail by taking a second hair tie and securing it all together. Spray a coat of hairspray all over.
- Brush out the ponytail. Take some styling cream and run it through the hair.
- Split the ponytail in half and begin tying your hair in big ‘knots’ until you have a little bit of hair left. Secure this knot bun with a hair elastic, then hairspray the bun.
- Add a statement hair accessory like a gold clip to finish off the look. Apply a final coat of hairspray to lock it all in
