Bright color blocking was all over the Spring 2019 runways and it’s shaping up to be one of the season’s biggest trends–but finding the correct way to combine contrasting colors can be a bit intimidating. Ideally, this look is achieved by putting together interesting and complimentary colors. Color blocking your look doesn’t have to be complicated, though: You can be bold or stay on the safer side, depending on your comfort level and your personal style. Ahead, check out 5 easy-to-follow tips for nailing the trend. Consider this your color-blocking fashion crash course.
Pair Neon + Pastel With A Neutral Color
This is a great combination if you’re daring and love to try new trends, since neon brights are making a big comeback for spring. Pairing neon yellow with pastel pink is very artsy, so adding a neutral trench to the mix makes this look more accessible.

Try a Monochromatic Mix
Monochromatic color blocking with similar hues can make for stunning outfits. This is an especially great way to take on the trend if putting colors together is a challenge for you. Add an oversize bag with snake boots to nail the trend without going over the top.

When in Doubt, Keep It Chic
Color blocking can go bold but there’s nothing wrong with playing it safe. Style a bright yellow suite with a dark green top and chic it up with a pair of white mules. Remember chic and refined is always a fashion win.

Pile On The Brights
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different bold color combos. Pairing high-contrast colors can be daring and make a major statement. Make sure to put complementary colors (hues that are opposite each other on the color wheel) together and don’t go overboard with accessorizing: in this situation, less is more.
