It would be nearly impossible to miss the yellow trend takeover that’s currently happening in fashion. Sunny shades like marigold, mustard, lemon, canary, and more ruled the Spring 2019 runways, preceded by Gen-Z Yellow unseating Millennial Pink as the “It” color of the moment. Now, suffice it to say, yellow clothes and accessories are everywhere–and that should include your wardrobe.
Yellow has a history of being perceived as a hard-to-wear color, depending on your skin tone (and your penchant for standing out in a crowd). While we personally think this notice-me hue has gotten a bad rap, we’re glad to see it’s finally getting the fashion love it deserves, as evidenced by the myriad yellow outfits we’re seeing on the ‘gram and in real life. What’s more: The Spring 2019 version of the yellow trend includes shades at both ends of the spectrum–and everything in between. That means you can opt for anything from a mustard shirt to a pastel yellow dress and you’ll be instantly spring ready, either way.

The options for how to wear yellow run the gamut, too, this season. If you’re on the adventurous side, try creating unexpected color combos by pairing your yellow clothes with other bold-hues (think candy pink or poppy red)–or create a tonal yellow outfit by layering varying shades together. If you’re looking to ease into the trend, add a cheerful pop with a yellow accessory like a woven bag or slide sandals.
