lulus the trevor project

At Lulus, the principles of inclusivity and continuous improvement are very important to us and to our community, and empowering others to feel confident, joyful, and excited about life is at the core of who we are. To welcome Pride Month, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. Including a $25K contribution, the year-long partnership will open new avenues for both Lulus employees and customers alike to make a meaningful impact.

Lulus’ SVP of Brand Marketing, Patrick Buchanan, said: “Year-round allyship is key to helping LGBTQ+ young people be their best selves — and The Trevor Project’s research continues to show that affirming spaces and accepting communities can significantly lower the risk of suicide. Through Lulus’ partnership with The Trevor Project, we not only want to send the message to LGBTQ+ young people that they are seen, supported, and loved for exactly who they are, but we also want to encourage allies to support them in their lives and communities.”

Samantha Bayne, Senior Corporate Partnerships Associate at The Trevor Project said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Lulus and together, we aim to ensure that LGBTQ+ young people have the support they need not just in the good times, but through every challenge. At The Trevor Project, we share Lulus’ commitment to being there for all of life’s moments, and Lulu’s generous contribution will enable us to continue to provide life-saving services to LGBTQ+ young people in their moments of need. The Trevor Project works tirelessly to end suicide among LGBTQ+ youth, and through this partnership, we hope to increase awareness and continue making a stand for inclusion, hope, and the promise of a brighter future where everyone can thrive.”

pride in action

The Trevor Project estimates that more than 1.8 million LGBTQ+ young people seriously consider suicide in the U.S. every year, and 50% of LGBTQ+ young people who said they wanted mental health care were unable to receive it in the past 12 months. Through our partnership with The Trevor Project, Lulus will aid in funding programs to help prevent and respond to the public health crisis of suicide among LGBTQ+ young people. That includes 24/7 free crisis intervention services for youth in the U.S. and Mexco, intersectional and culturally-competent suicide prevention programs, innovative research, advocacy, public education, and peer support.

The partnership will also allow Lulus to work closely with experts to offer educational opportunities for Lulus’ employees, including a Community Lunch and Learn, Ally Training, and more. Whether it’s in the form of a monetary donation, volunteership, advocacy, voting, or getting involved in local schools & institutions, taking action can make a life-saving difference for an LGBTQ+ young person contemplating suicide. Getting involved reinforces the message to those young people in your community: You belong, and you matter.
