Easy to execute, this look can be achieved in just a few minutes but makes a major impact. Start with a slick high-ponytail, then get creative with the bling. Hair rhinestones look so whimsical and luxurious and are such a fun touch for a New Year’s Eve party or a nice holiday dinner.

All you need are a few simple tools, flat-back rhinestones or half pearls, and some eyelash glue. Make sure to do your hair after getting dressed to avoid knocking any rhinestones loose.

You Will Need…

  • Comb for teasing
  • Fine tooth comb or edge tool for smoothing
  • (2) thick ponytail holders—at least one should be the same color as your hair
  • Curling iron
  • Flat-back rhinestones or half pearls
  • Eyelash glue

How-To Guide:

Step 1: Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with a thick ponytail holder that matches your hair color.

Step 2: Spray your hairline with firm-hold hairspray, then immediately smooth any loose hairs or baby hairs back toward the ponytail using a comb or edge tool.

Step 3: Thread your second ponytail holder under the one securing your hair. You will have two loops on either side of the original ponytail holder—one in front, one in back. See the video for a visual demonstration of this step.

Step 4: Section out a small piece of hair from your ponytail and wrap it around the base of your ponytail 2-3 times, leaving a small tail.

Step 5: Thread the tail through the front loop of the second ponytail holder. Pulling on the back loop, pull the tail under the ponytail holder securing your hair. Tighten your ponytail as necessary.

Step 6: Tease your ponytail in layers near the base for volume, then spray with hairspray and smooth with a comb.

Step 7: Using a curling iron, gently curl the ends of your ponytail upward, then brush out for extra volume with your comb.
