Bride clients and social followers are constantly asking me how to get the perfect flat iron waves–and I totally understand why. There’s nothing like loose, beachy waves for that effortless, undone (but actually done) look–and thankfully, they’re actually pretty simple to achieve.
All you need to nail these laid-back waves is a flat iron, light-hold hairspray, and some pins. Seriously, that’s it! Wear them with a middle part, a side part, or a deep side part with serious volume and ’90s vibes! Whichever way you choose, the result is relaxed, rolled-out-of-bed chic. Scroll on to see how to get the look!
Easy Flat Iron Waves
- Pin hair away in layers and start curling with the bottom layer.
- Grab a small section, hold the iron vertically, clamp, and twist away from the face, moving down the length of the hair.
- Remove the iron from the hair about an inch from the bottom.
- Twist the section around your finger.
- Straighten the end of the section.
- Leave the section twisted while it cools.
- Repeat, grabbing small, random sections, alternating the direction of the curl.
- Curl the front sections away from the face.
- Run your fingers through the hair as you spray with light-hold hairspray.
- Scrunch and add product as needed for hold.
