With holiday parties are on hold and family gatherings smaller this year, you might be feeling a little less festive. Usually, by now we’ve eaten and drank our body weight in puff pastries and champagne and are gearing up for dinners with family members we only see a few times a year. Instead of getting down, take this opportunity to get creative–and test out some fabulous Christmas table decoration ideas.
Since things are staying small this year, what better time to go all out with your Christmas tablescapes? So experiment with new decor you might not typically try! It’s less expensive to set a smaller table and you can try out settings for next year.

Table for Two, Please
If you’re staying home this holiday with your significant other or roommate, you can still set a beautiful, intimate table. Lindsay from @countrygirlhome inspired us to get creative, even if we’re not entertaining the whole family.
Instead of setting a formal table, take it to your island or counter. The tiny Christmas tree in the center and the wreaths hanging from the chairs add the perfect amount of festive flair. Layer woven chargers and dishes with a folded napkin for a beautiful, clean presentation.
What we really love about this set-up are the grey stoneware dishes. This year Lindsay stepped outside of her comfort zone: “I’m normally a white plate person, but these beautiful stoneware dishes are a new favorite, they are so earthy and natural-looking I just love them, and had to use them on my neutral tablescape this month, my out-of-comfort-zone purchase paid off in this case,” says Lindsay.
DIY Decoration
Get ready to festi-fy your home with a rustic centerpiece! If you have some time off before the holidays, try your hand at a little DIY action, like Meagan Adams from @foreveronfront. Using a piece of scrap wood, a drill bit for holes, and a reciprocating saw, Adams created a long, distressed candle holder for the center of her dining table. Surrounded by greenery and pompoms, the beautiful candlestick holder adds a warm glow to the dining room. Since the centerpiece is neutral, you can swap out the decor around it for each season.
Evergreen Glam
Jenny Reimold knows how to set up a fun and festive tablescape. The mom of seven always uses Homegoods to find special pieces that tie her tables together. This Evergreen Glam tablescape perfectly transitions from Christmas to winter, so you can keep the holiday spirit alive without Santas everywhere. “Utilizing Mother Nature’s winter color palette is an easy way to transition from Christmas to early January while still keeping things seasonally festive,” she says. Think Pink
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Ceres from @the.pink.dream created the dreamiest pink holiday tablescape last year and couldn’t resist repeating it this year. If you’re not into the classic reds, greens, and metallics that are commonly seen in Christmas table decorations, try embracing a palette of flirty pinks and metallics. The gold flatware feels extra special layered with shades of pink. To avoid your tablescape falling flat, mix in different textures with chargers and specialty drinkware.
A Minimalist’s Christmas
If the thought of spending a bunch of money on holiday table decorations is not for you, or you’re more of a minimalist, borrow tips from Nari of @this_neutral_home. Using pine cones and fresh cedar greenery from her parents’ yard, she created an easy and beautiful table setting. To make it feel curated, try evenly spacing the decor throughout the table, and incorporating candles. Using string and extra greenery you can easily make your everyday napkins feel special.
