Cute, but runs very big

Button fell off before first use
I was so excited about this dress. And although the material is of great quality and is very comfortable, the way the buttons were sewn on the neck portion of the dress was really poor. Upon wearing it out the first time, the buttons fell off even before I finished getting dressed. I know it could be an easy fix to sew on new buttons but it is such a disappointment for me and I wish I could return the dress. Unfortunately, I had already removed... Very flattering and comfortable
I am hourglass, 42" around the bust, with a tush and hips. I ordered the XL. This dress is made very well, and it hangs beautifully... lots of wiggle room but not frumpy... super comfy. I am 5'6 1/2, and it hits me mid calf. If I were to cut out the bottom tier (no tailoring required for that), it would hit right at or just above the knee.
