These shorts are the perfect high waist. Not too tight in the lower booty and distressed just right. Only thinkg is I had to return them to get a size 28 and possibly would even go for a 29 but they were all out. I usually wear a 26 in 7 for all mankind jeans or a 27 in madewell jeans these were pretty stiff so the high waisted fits snug.

Don't Buy if you Have Hips!
I usually wear a 27 in jeans (sometimes 26, sometimes 28). I ordered a 29 in these shorts because I didn't want them to be tight but they were still so small on me! I have wide hips & it is difficult to find good shorts. I was able to get them buttoned but they did not look great on me.
