These Desert Sunset-Inspired Nails are a Summer Adventure at Your Fingertips

When it comes to nail art, things are looking up. Cloud nails have been trending for a while now, but this sunset-inspired design takes the look to a new level. Warm hues like bright pink, orange, and yellow give an unmistakable peak summer vibe, like you’re on a road trip through the desert–music blasting, big sky ahead. Anyone else have serious wanderlust right now? Yeah, same.

Even if you’re not headed out on a vacation any time soon and Coachella is still a ways off, these festival-worthy nails will put you in an adventure state of mind, for sure. So scroll on to see how to DIY your own desert sunset mani, complete with fluffy clouds and a purple sun–and grab as much summer as you can.

Desert Cloud Nails:

Supplies:

• Hot pink nail polish
• Orange nail polish
• Yellow nail polish
• Plum nail polish
• White nail polish
• Makeup sponge

Instructions:

Step 1: Start off by painting yellow, orange, and pink nail polish on the makeup sponge.

Step 2: Dab the makeup sponge on three or four fingernails, and repaint the colors onto the sponge as it dries. Finish dabbing it onto the rest of the nails.

Step 3: Do a second and third coat dabbing the sponge over the first layer. Clean off the mess on the skin.

Step 4: To paint the clouds, create a horizontal line and a perpendicular line on top of it as shown.

Step 5: Add two more cloud bubbles on two sides of the middle line to finish off the cloud.

Step 6: Repeat steps 4-5 to add another cloud.

Step 7: Add a plum desert sun to the mix and you’re finished!
