abstract nails with ivory rose gold and black
Abstract nails have been trending hard for summer. One of the best things about this manicure trend is that it can be done at all skill levels, meaning you don’t have to be a professional to get the look right. Just use random brush strokes, dots, and lines to create this very artsy, ’80s-inspired look that can be customized however you like!

If you feel that straight, thin lines are out of your comfort level for nail art, just simply painting black dots with strokes of rose gold will also look great and achieve the same abstract effect. Get your favorite rose gold polish and nail art striper out to try this fun, easy nail art design!

Rose Gold Abstract Nails

Supplies:

  • Ivory nail polish (I used Sally Hansen’s Headed To Nude Wear)
  • Rose gold nail polish (I used Static Nails’ Rose Gold)
  • Top coat (I used Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat)

Instructions:

1.  To get this look, start with clean, prepped, and filed nails. Paint one or two coats of your base ivory color.
2. After your base cream color is dried (about 10 minutes), take the brush from the bottle of the rose gold polish. Wipe the brush a couple of times on a paper towel to remove excess polish. Then, take the brush and gently swipe across each nail in a random direction, to create a brushstroke design, as shown in the photo. There should only be a little polish on the brush in order to create the thin layer, which will have the feathered “brushed” out look.
3. Next, with a striper brush and black nail polish, draw parallel black lines and dots in random places to create your abstract look. You may need to practice lines on a piece of paper a couple of times before painting on the nail.
4. Finally, let your black lines dry for about 10 minutes and seal with a top coat. Apply the top coat gently as black nail polish can easily streak!
