We’re all about a simple styling hack, especially these days–and well, it doesn’t get much simpler than adding a hair accessory. In the last few seasons, hair barrettes, clips, and headbands have made a mega-comeback, making it easier than ever to level up even the most casual outfit. Now, the silky hair scarf has officially entered the chat.

They’re not exactly new, but classic satin hair scarves feel fresher than ever this season. Maybe it’s because so many of our colleagues, friends, and family see us mainly from the shoulders up (hello, Zoom life). Whether you knot it around your ponytail or bun, tie it like a headband, or rock it kerchief-style, tying on a hair scarf adds instant polish to your ensemble–whatever that may be. It says, “Hey, this (t-shirt and jeans, loungewear set, house dress, etc.) is a look.” Yep, just like that: minimal effort, major impact.

There’s also the versatility factor that makes silky scarves so very appealing right now. Sure, you can wrap one around your locks, but you can also turn a hair scarf into a handbag accent by tying it around the strap. Or you can loop one around your neck or knot it around your wrist (with one of this season’s must-have chain bracelets, naturally). This one-and-done accessory goes the distance.

For those who want to make things even easier in the hairstyling department, there is also a slew of ponytail holders that give the hair scarf look without requiring any knotting or tying skills. (Brilliant, we know.) Whichever type of scarf suits your needs, you’re sure to find it ahead!
