A refreshing cocktail on a hot summer day is just what the doctor-er, maybe not the doctor, ordered! There’s no feeling quite like the first sip of your favorite summer refresher on a gorgeous summer day or night amongst friends, family, or on your own with a great book.
To help inspire you for summer cocktail season, the LuCrew has shared their favorite recipes and a few words on how they like to enjoy these delicious adult drinks!
Frozen Aperol Spritz
The Aperol Spritz is the ultimate summer drink, but we’ve made it even more summer-appropriate by turning it into a blended Frozen Aperol Spritz. Possibly the cutest drink on this list, we like to garnish our frozen cocktails with edible chamomile flowers.
Kera, who is obsessed with these, had this to say: “When I lived in NYC we would go to the Hamptons every weekend when the city was uncomfortably hot. We would sit on the beach and drink our Aperol Spritzes, eat charcuterie boards, and gossip. Definitely feeling nostalgic for that time–it makes me want an Aperol Spritz right now, especially a frozen one!”
Peach Frosé
Peach Frose is the sweet, creamy, adult icee you’ve been dreaming of! Enjoy with a straw or a spoon, just like the childhood favorite from 7-Eleven.
This peachy-keen summer cocktail is a favorite of Zia, who says: “As someone who likes fruity drinks, this is the perfect summer drink to stay cool while out at lunch, or pool side. Peaches are locally grown here in my hometown, and this drink brings me nostalgia of hot summer days under the peach orchards.”
White Wine Slushie
If you like sweet white wines like Moscato, you’ll adore this sweet White Wine Slushie. Fresh lemonade, sugary simple syrup, and your favorite sweet white wine are all you need for this recipe!
Here’s how Grace likes to enjoy this refreshing cocktail: “Wine slushies are perfect for warmer days when you don’t want something too strong. I like that they only need a few ingredients and are super simple to make. You can also make it as sweet or as dry as you want, depending on your preference!”
Mint Cucumber Mojito
An elegant twist on the classic mojito, the Mint Cucumber Mojito is extra smooth thanks to the light, fragrant, almost herbal profile of fresh cucumbers.
During the summer, this is one of Mallory’s top cocktails: “One of my favorite summer cocktails is the Mint Cucumber Mojito! Nothing like a sweet, refreshing mint cucumber mojito for cooling off and relaxing after a long warm day! The aroma of fresh mint and cucumber instantly relaxes both my mind and body!”
Creamy Tropical Raspberry Cocktail
If the perfect baby pink hue of this Creamy Tropical Raspberry Cocktail weren’t enough to make you fall in love, just wait till you have your first sip!
This pick comes to us from LuCrew member Camille, who says: “As a rum and tropical fruity drinks enthusiast, I absolutely love Piña Coladas and any variations of it. The muddled raspberry in this cocktail adds a refreshing twist to the classic creamy coconut and pineapple base and immediately transports me to the sundrenched, white sandy beaches of Hawaii. Basically, if it looks like it should be served on an island and doesn’t taste like alcohol, I want it.”
Sparkling Berry Cocktail
If you can’t tell, we love a cocktail that is beautiful and delicious! This Sparkling Berry Cocktail features bubbly prosecco and frozen berry garnishes that keep this cocktail cool and refreshing.
A favorite of LuCrew team member Alexa, this sparkling cocktail is such a lovely treat during the sunny season: “It doesn’t get better than bubbles and berries on a hot summer day! The fresh fruit combined with prosecco and vodka make for a refreshing and tasty cocktail that you can enjoy by the pool, in your PJs while watching your favorite show, or out with your friends. Any time is the perfect time for this summer cocktail!”
Mandarin Tequila Smash
If you were the kid always begging their parents for tins of sweet mandarin oranges, you’re going to absolutely fall in love with the Mandarin Tequila Smash. Garnished with a candied mandarin slice, this almost feels like dessert!
Anneke told us to include this fabulous cocktail, and says: “I am a tequila girl through and through. When I’m out, you can find me ordering a round of tequila shots for the table with a tequila soda in hand. I’m not one for an overly sweet drink either, which makes the Mandarin Smash the perfect summer cocktail for me! The muddled mandarins and pineapple juice add the perfect amount of sweetness to create a refreshing summer drink.”
Grapefruit Mezcal Paloma
If you’ve never tried mezcal, you’ve got to try this tart Grapefruit Mezcal Paloma. Think of mezcal as tequila’s smokier, more flavorful cousin, and the paloma is the perfect drink to showcase this beautiful spirit. Rimmed with seasalt and garnished with fresh grapefruit and camomile blossoms, this is a cocktail that looks almost too pretty to drink. Almost.
Daniela is a big fan of this mezcal paloma, and says, “Just like Anneke, I am a tequila girl through and through. However, when I first discovered mezcal I fell in love with the smoky twist it gives to any drink.”
Whiskey Limeade
This super-simple Whiskey Limeade is just three ingredients, and super versatile! Use your favorite whiskey, your favorite limeade, and garnish however you like–this is truly a limitless drink.
Here’s what LuCrew team member Bella has to say about this cocktail: “It doesn’t get better than whiskey and lime! It’s a great summer drink to keep cool and refreshed. It’s something I’d enjoy making with my dad.”
